Interview // Reginald

Our favourite finn delivered one of the phattest tracks in our catalog 2023 with “So easy”. We were mesmerised right from the get go with his incredible nose for juicy beats combined with a unique lightheartedness. As he is bound to make a return to SNOE this year, we sat down with him to have a chat about this and that.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?

In my music, rhythmic beats oscillate between 127 and 140 BPM, seamlessly intertwining with the tapestry of sound inspired by expressionist paintings and Jon Hopkinsesk chords. Within this melodic realm, genre boundaries dissolve effortlessly, incorporating elements of breaks and techno. Despite the apparent chaos, the composition remains both easily digestible and irresistibly catchy.

How do you get into a creative flow?

I have a phenomenon known as synesthesia, wherein music and sounds manifest as tangible objects, colors, and movements in my mind. Typically, a melody or rhythmic pattern forms in my mind throughout the day or days, prompting me to transcribe it into my DAW (FL Studio). As I delve into the creative process, I intricately weave supporting sounds surrounding the main idea—each a visual representation stemming from my synesthetic experience. Gradually, the composition transforms into a vivid piece of mental artwork, complete with nuanced details and clarity.

What is the one thing you can’t be without in the studio?

Acoustic treatment.

We love your last release. What was the inspiration for the track?

I picked the theme of the song to express how much easier life gets when you’re surrounded by people who share the same values,

especially my wife Venla. Life becomes beautiful when you have good-hearted people around you.

How do you stay focused in a world of constant distraction?

I typically zero in on two to three key priorities in life, considering everything else as mere background noise. Currently, my main focuses revolve around health and unapologetically embracing my authentic self, particularly in the pursuit of helping others in need. Keeping my attention on positive and altruistic aspects makes it easier to stay motivated and maintain focus.

What is your favourite Norwegian word? 😉

Sinnet aka the mind and thoughts.
