Spectral Sun – Thinking Right (incl. Tagmond Remix) // SNOE125

Brazilian producer Jhonatan Mandato aka Spectral Sun returns to SNOE with “Thinking Right”, a groove-led house cut that has clearly been through its paces. Built with the dancefloor in mind, the track combines a tight rhythmic foundation with funky vocal chops, a bouncy bassline and old school synth stabs, keeping a kind of understated musicality that keeps things moving without overcomplicating them.

It’s also a track that took its time. “Thinking Right” was one of Spectral Sun’s longest productions to date, going through several rounds of adjustments before finally finding its shape. A few pointers from the label heads helped along the way, with the result being a record that Spectral Sun feels hits exactly where it should: on the dancefloor.

For the remix, SNOE brings in German producer Tagmond. The story behind his involvement is almost as entertaining as the result. After repeatedly asking Andreas and Beth for the chance to remix a SNOE release, Tagmond finally got his opportunity, and then promptly announced it before Andreas had even confirmed whether the remix would be accepted. Pressure, apparently, works.
Thankfully, the remix survived the test. Tagmond takes “Thinking Right” into his own warm, rhythmic territory, bringing his love of organic textures, analog experimentation and hip-hop-infused, stompy groove to the track while giving it a distinctly different character from the original.

Two versions, two perspectives, and one solid addition to the SNOE catalogue.
