Luca Lento has been a favourite of the SNOE team ever since they discovered his track \u201cPoema\u201d on Clarisse Records back in 2014. It took a few years, but we are happy to have Luca joining the family this spring.<\/h1>\n

SNOE\u2019s third release this year is another chapter of their celebrated series SNOEflakes where they bring together tracks from varied artists, both known and unknown, to showcase the sound of tomorrow. Luca Lento is known for his upbeat, rhythmic sound and sets off the EP with \u201cAl Colosseo\u201d. In true Lento style the track is an energetic fury of drums and percussions infused with elements of tribal decent. Ahead of the release we had a little chat with Luca about his musical background, studio habits and his guilty pleasures. Check out his interview below.<\/h3>\n

Hei Luca, thank you for taking the time to have a chat with us. Let\u2019s start at the beginning. When did you start making music and DJing, and when did you know electronic music was your true love?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hi there :)) First of all I thank you for inviting me! I started djing in the mid 90s.<\/p>\n

My first production went out on VC Recordings (Virgin) under the name of “Contact Three”. It was an electro funk track called “Don’t stop it”. I produced many projects under different aliases and genres, and in 2003 I also got the great honour to be Remixed from Bob Sinclar (on L2R Project)!<\/p>\n

I discovered electronic music when my friend Vizo (R.I.P.) showed me his studio and how to create music using samplers and drum machines! There were Akai samplers, Roland, Juno 106, DX7, TR909 and the Atari ST1040 with Notator. It was love at first sight!!!<\/p>\n

In 2012 I started my solo underground project under my real name: Luca Lento. Since then I had the great opportunities to work with the labels of Mendo, Sabb,\u00a0 Stefano Noferini,\u00a0Mauro Picotto , The Cube Guys, Dennis Cruz, The Deephakerz… and now with SNOE :))<\/p>\n

Can you tell us a bit about where you live and how the music scene is there?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I live in Sicily, Palermo city. Palermo is the biggest city of this Island in the south of Italy and I love to live here! It is a city is full of art, culture treasures and natural beauties.<\/p>\n

The musical scene\u00a0 has grown a lot here, it’s already at big levels!\u00a0Palermo based “Unlocked” organization bring big Djs to Palermo such as: Nicole Moudaber, Luciano, Umek, Dubfire and Matthias Tanzmann\u00a0to name few\u2026\u00a0Also in Catania, the “Withlove” organization did big things!! Sven V\u00e4th, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Jamie Jones… The small cities are also starting to appreciate good emerging artists!!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Probably\u00a0it is the fusion of all musical influences I had during my life.<\/p>\n

It’s a mix of House, Techno, 90s Underground and also a bit of World Music.<\/p>\n

What would you say is the most important to you regarding your track \u201eAl Colosseo\u201c?<\/strong><\/p>\n

About “Al Colosseo” I can say it was a very instinctive track!\u00a0I didn’t plan anything\u2026. I Just did it!<\/p>\n

How much time do you spend in the studio?<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the moment I’m spending a lot of time there. I’m in the studio daily but also looking to increase my dj side, so I will\u00a0 probably spend less time there in the next months.<\/p>\n

What is your favourite toy for making music?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m still in love with my vintage samplers. I still use my first Roland S550 & Akai S5000!<\/p>\n

With whom would you like to spend time in the studio?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2026 Surely Reboot!!<\/p>\n

What is the one thing you can\u2019t be without in the studio?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Probably some good studio monitors!<\/p>\n

And what is the one thing you do not want in your studio?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nothing that stops my creative flow!<\/p>\n

What are your guilty pleasures?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Street food!!\u00a0Palermo is\u00a0really known as a capital of the street food.\u00a0My favourite are “Arancini”: ball of rice & meat,\u00a0taken from the Arabian Domination we had in the past.<\/p>\n

\u2026 and “Pane & Panelle”!!\u00a0 Bread with a sort of “pancake” made with chickpeas flour fried in hot oil!<\/p>\n

What is your favourite Norwegian word? \ud83d\ude09<\/strong><\/p>\n

SNOE! If it’s a Norwegian word :)))<\/p>\n
